Amrita was appointed to the PANDA Board in 2022.
Tell us about yourself
I am an Executive Leader, with expertise in strategy, transformation and finance, with over 20 years experience in roles enabling strategic growth, transformation, mergers, business integration and corporate advisory consulting. I completed my Masters in International Business from Manchester, am a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales and Graduate of Australian Institute of Company Directors.
What drives me at work is to find ways to simplify complexity, grow talent and possibilities, understand key value drivers, enhance business intelligence, harness technology to streamline routine tasks so human intellect can be focused on conversations that matter, requiring subjectivity, EQ and humanity.
I am passionate about supporting the for-purpose sector, particularly disability and mental health services, to help create a sustainable positive impact for the wellbeing of our community.
Why did you choose to volunteer with PANDA?
I have friends and family who have greatly benefitted from the work that the wonderful team at PANDA do. I am consciously pivoting my career to support the for-purpose sector and the purpose of PANDA resonates with me because I have seen the value it delivers to real people in real need, at a time when we may not be able to understand our own emotional complexity or may not share with our loved ones or they may not be able to comprehend.
What has been the best thing that’s happened at PANDA since you joined the PANDA board?
Soon after I joined the PANDA Board, I was elated to see PANDA being presented with 2 prestigious awards within 1 month. In September 2022, PANDA won the National Suicide Prevention Australia Award for 2022 and the Mental Health Organisation of the Year Award for 2022 by Mental Health Foundation Australia (MHFA).
What is your favourite activity to do with your family?
Enjoying good food, sunshine and long walks by the beach or in the mountains.
Finally, if you could live anywhere, where would it be?
I’d be in Bhutan, living in the pristine mountains practicing yoga and learning to meditate better in monasteries with Buddhist monks.
