PANDA’s Intensive Care and Counselling Program operates within our National Perinatal Mental Health Helpline.
Operating in Victoria since 2016, and more recently in QLD since 2021 this program provides quality specialist therapeutic support for families with significant psychosocial complexity during the perinatal period who might be otherwise unable to engage with universal or specialist services.
The program offers:
- The provision of therapeutic support and advocacy via specialist clinical and peer practitioners
- Free telephone-based care coordination, proactive follow up, service navigation (links to local supports and appropriate resources), advocacy, counselling and psychosocial support, risk assessment, crisis management and psychoeducation to expecting and new parents and their supports
- Provision of unlimited number of follow up, exploring ways to minimize internal and external barriers to engagement
- Building positive relationships and provide psychoeducation and secondary consultation with health providers to support them in developing their knowledge, understanding and skills in supporting expecting and new parents with perinatal mental health
- Participate in case conference and information sharing with involved stakeholders.
