About the Role

Reporting to the CEO and the Finance Audit and Risk (FAR) Committee of the Board, this role oversees all finance and accounting functions for PANDA.

The position requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong commitment to compliance, efficiency, and systems improvement. The Finance Manager must possess strong business acumen, strategic thinking abilities, and the capacity to make well-considered recommendations.

Responsible for driving systematic financial planning and reporting oversight, the Finance Manager will lead efforts to modernise PANDA’s financial management approach. The ideal candidate should have proven experience managing a full spectrum of financial activities, including budgeting, funding, compliance management, contract management, and accounts and payroll reconciliation within a small to medium-sized NGO or social enterprise.

 

Key Details 

  • Permanent part time role commencing ASAP
  • 3-4 days per week (22.8-30.4 hours)
  • Work from home anywhere in Australia
  • SCHADS Award Level 8 Base salary $120,338 (pro rata), + super
  • Access to full charitable not for profit salary packaging
  • Must have a current Working with Children Check for employment prior to commencement
  • Must have full working rights in Australia and be willing to undergo National Police Check as part of the recruitment process

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead organisational culture development aligned with PANDA values
  • Demonstrate strong project and time management skills
  • Provide performance-driven leadership, ensuring clarity of expectations
  • Uphold workplace equality and compliance with policies
  • Participate in training for personal and organisational development
  • Ensure health, safety, and confidentiality measures
  • Foster effective working relationships with CEO and managers
  • Collaborate to improve business efficiency and costs
  • Manage accounting, financial, contract, and budgetary activities
  • Implement best practices in financial management
  • Meet reporting requirements and compliance standards
  • Oversee payroll operations and compliance
  • Manage relationships with external agencies and auditors
  • Provide financial advice to CEO and Board
  • Monitor funded contracts for compliance and ensure compliance with supplier contracts
  • Manage operational assets within budget
  • Supervise Accounts & Payroll Officer
  • Support FAR Committee and Board meetings
  • Maintain fundraising licenses and regulatory compliance

 

Key Selection Criteria

  • 5-10 years of accounting and payroll management experience
  • Proficiency in implementing and using digital finance management systems
  • Possession of a tertiary qualification in accounting and registration as either a Certified Practicing Accountant or Chartered Accountant
  • Experience in developing and monitoring budgets in the not-for-profit sector and preparing financial reports for government
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting and payroll statutory and legislative requirements applicable to a not-for-profit entity
  • Very high-level computer and system technical skills including Microsoft 365 suite, Xero, Employment Hero, and other related finance and payroll systems

This role can be undertaken while working from the office, working from home or a hybrid model. Applicants must have access to reliable internet and a suitable home working office space in order toperform the duties of the role safely and effectively.

Peer Support Volunteers - volunteers with a lived experience of perinatal anxiety and/or depression period delivering support on PANDA’s National Perinatal Anxiety and Depression Helpline.

Become a peer support volunteer

Community Education Volunteers - volunteers with a lived experience of perinatal anxiety and/or depression period sharing their story and/or delivering education sessions to community groups including new-parent groups, support groups, playgroups and health professional training courses.

Community Champions - volunteers with a lived experience of perinatal anxiety and/or depression period passionate about raising awareness of perinatal mental health and PANDA's work.

Clinical Champions – health professionals passionate about raising awareness of perinatal mental health and PANDA's work.
